One of the finest demonstrations of the know-how of
is the way it decorates its products. Whereas the performance of a
movement reflects the latest progress of watch-making techniques, it is also and more particularly the reflection of a watch-making tradition seen through the aesthetics of its forms and refinement of its decorations.
The quest for great harmony between the function and appearance of the watch is visible in the application of famous Côtes de Genève, the circular graining and the angling.
The angling of each part of the movement immediately and obviously highlights its contour with distinction.
Electro-plating
The various parts of the movement are electro-plated, whereby a layer of noble metal (gold, nickel, rhodium, etc.) is deposited on them. This process gives the surface the necessary long lasting protection against oxydation.
After a preparation requiring the parts to pass through several successive baths, from degreasing to electrolythic cleaning, each part is finally plunged into a plating bath. Then, an electric current is passed through the tank causing metal particles to adhere to the treated part through electrolysis.
